Our friends over at the Diana Award have opened nominations for autumn 2014, and Future Foundations is pleased to be able to support and promote these incredible and inspiring awards.

The Diana Award is the official legacy to Diana Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better.

The Diana Award shines a spotlight on socially active young people aged 9-18, who inspire the lives of others, and since 1999 has recognised over 42,000 young people who have made a positive difference in their schools and communities!

The Diana Award encourages young people for the contribution that they make to their communities, empowers young people to achieve their full potential and engages them in further social action to make a difference to the lives of others.

But receiving a Diana Award is only the beginning! Through the Diana Network they encourage, empower and engage young people to keep up the good work. They do this through their core programmes:

Award Categories and How to Nominate

There are five Award categories so whether young people are campaigning, working hard to stamp out bullying, fundraising or volunteering, or perhaps are a young courageous citizen, there is a Diana Award for them.  We are sure that Future Foundations staff, alumni and friends know some inspiring young people that would be eligible for the award!

Young people can receive the Diana Award for being one of the following:

  • For young people who tackle bullying in schools and communities.
  • For young people who run campaigns in their schools and communities.
  • For young people who raise money for good causes.
  • For young people who give their time to improve the lives of others.
  • For a young person whose courageous approach to life has made a direct impact on the lives of other (this could include someone who has cared for family members or friends, overcome personal illness or disability and at the same time has helped others or someone who has turned their life around).

I have had the privilege of meeting some amazing young people from the Diana Award. I have been humbled by the commitment they show to their communities and in some cases the bravery they demonstrate.

It’s an honour to receive the Diana Award. The award is something special to me because it not only rewards young people for the good things they but gives them a platform to develop themselves personally for the future.
