The Aspirations programme brought students and teachers together to explore what their passions, strengths and purpose are.

The Wimbledon independent-state schools partnership was set up in 2003 by the late Miss Heather McKissack, who was awarded an MBE for services to education in 2016. It is one of the most principled, wide-ranging, and effective independent-state school partnerships in the country.

We have run this programme with them annually since 2011, but this was the first time we have run it virtually. The programme helps young people to identify their strengths, and give them a insight into how to apply for university, and what it holds in store for them. They are encouraged to make their own choices and to seek out what works for them, as well as touching on self leadership.  Four schools from the partnership took part, and it was a huge success. We delivered interactive sessions which focused on careers, universities and self-awareness in order to help them to be pro-active in shaping their own futures.

King’s College School Wimbledon commented that we ran “an excellent afternoon for the pupils” and that “they all got a huge amount from the sessions.”

Coach Jonny Baker said ‘the young people seemed to appreciate the connection between understanding themselves and choosing options for their higher education.’ This is one of the key aims of this programme – we want to ensure the young people choose subjects, courses and careers that they love and feel passion for, and therefore will have great success in.

We are delighted to be continuing with the delivery of this programme next year.

Thank you to our brilliant coaches Nadia SibanyJonny BakerAmelia Haase DobsonMaya Bahoshy and Lina Akbar for facilitating the programme and working so well with the students on virtual level.
