One of Future Foundations’ NCS teams has won £2000 of funding from the Starbucks Youth Action Fund to keep their social project going after they finished the programme. The team of 16 year olds, ‘KCF’ created a sensory garden as part of the NCS programme during the summer. In a little over 2 weeks they raised over £1000 and built a garden in a local primary school in Reading that was designed for children with special needs or sensory impairments. The team won the award for best social action project at their graduation ceremony and will go on to compete against other NCS teams at the FF Annual awards in December. The teams’ project ‘SSH Sensory’ will be using the additional funding to up similar gardens in other local primary schools with their next school already confirmed! Check out the team’s incredible video here about their first garden and we look forward to seeing what the team create next!
