About the Programme
Introduction to our Maths Camps
We are delighted to be offering two fully-funded Maths Camps this summer hosted by Christ’s Hospital. The camps are for students in years 7, 8 and year 9 students. They are targeted at students who have been nominated for being the top mathematicians in their year group, who have a strong enthusiasm and strong aptitude for mathematics.
Our team, including individuals from Purposeful Ventures, Axiom Maths, Future Foundations and each of the host venues, is working hard preparing for the camps.
Overview of Role:
We are looking to recruit recent Christ’s Hospital alumni (aged 18+) to join the Maths Camp team this summer as Operations Assistants and School Ambassadors.
As an alumni team member, you will support the smooth running of the camp and act as a welcoming, positive role model for visiting students from across the country. You will also represent Christ’s Hospital, offering insights into the school’s ethos and helping ensure all participants feel comfortable in their surroundings and can navigate the site confidently.
You will help with a wide range of operational and student-facing tasks, including:
-
Setting up the site before camp begins, including preparing session spaces and activity areas
-
Supporting maths games and enrichment sessions
-
Welcoming students (e.g. meeting them at the station or guiding them from registration to the residential area or activity zones)
-
Escorting groups, helping during meal times, and ensuring smooth transitions between sessions
Depending on your strengths and interests, you may also:
-
Support with AV or tech
-
Help within maths sessions if you’re a keen mathematician
-
Focus on event logistics if you’re interested in learning more about event and programme management
Please let us know in your application why you are attracted to this role and how you think you will be able to contribute to the team.
Plus: If you’re excited by mathematics and want to be a role model to younger students, this is a chance to get involved in a unique and inspiring programme. You will hear from guest speakers, work alongside a dynamic team, and develop skills in leadership, communication, confidence and professionalism, all of which are valued in higher education and the future world of work.
Important Note – Non-Residential Role
This is a non-residential position. You’ll need to travel to and from Christ’s Hospital each day. We are prioritising applications from alumni who are local or have accommodation options nearby.
If daily travel may be difficult, please let us know in your application. While priority for boarding house spaces will go to participants and residential staff, we may be able to offer limited accommodation to selected alumni.
Pre-Camp Preparation:
You will also need to review the Maths Camps Policies and Procedures, plus complete a safeguarding and health & safety survey.
There will be a pre-camp briefing which will take place either online or at Christ’s Hospital.
