Queen’s College invites parents to complete a survey to confirm interest in a half-term Leadership & Lifeskills programme with Future Foundations

Queen’s College are planning to open up our boarding houses, and provide a full programme of activities, 24 hour pastoral care for our students who wish to stay at Queen’s College during the October half-term.  We are also exploring opening this programme to our day pupils on a non-residential basis.

We wish to provide a supportive, safe and productive environment, which will cater to the needs of each age of student (from 11 to 18). We are also exploring opening the programme to Year 6 students, if there is the demand.

We are asking all interested students and their parents to complete a survey by Tuesday 15th September, to inform our planning.

  • Following this consultation we will email you to confirm the final details on what we can offer including the programme of activities, the excursions and the costs involved and process for securing a place.
  • If you have any questions please include them in the survey. We will release a Frequently Asked Questions response, with the additional information to be shared.

When?

The activities will run from Saturday 24th to Saturday 7th November 2020*
With the option to book for one or two weeks

*Students will be able to stay onsite on Friday 23rd (end of term) and on Saturday 7th (term starts on 8th)

We are exploring the option to allow Queen’s day-pupils to attend Monday to Friday on a non-residential basis.

Where?

Queen’s College will host the programme throughout

  • Students will stay on site in our boarding houses
  • We will open up our dining hall and offer meals three times a day
  • We aim to run off-site excursions each week (depending on current restrictions and local guidelines)

Sample content – Global Social Leaders Catalyst Course:

Week one:

We are planning to deliver in Week one, a transformational leadership journey that starts with a 5 day programme led by expert coaches from our Future Foundations team.

Future Foundations unique GSL Catalyst programme is designed to develop leadership skills, understanding of global issues enabling young people to plan a project and become leaders in their life and society. Participants will receive powerful leadership training, inspiring talks and the chance to make deep connections with their peers. Each participant will receive a certificate and support with establishing a project after the programme.

Week Two:

In week 2, we will draw on the survey data, to inform the life-skills programme we will offer.

What will be offered?

Our residential package will include:

  • Full board accommodation within a Queen’s College boarding house
  • 24 hour pastoral care
  • 3 meals per day
  • Daily activities led by expert external facilitators from 9am to 9pm
  • Escorted excursions off-site (depending on local guidelines and restrictions) – there may be an additional cost for entry fees
  • Use of the available facilities including access to all evening activities and workshops
  • Students have the option to join for one-week or two-weeks
  • There will be access to the sports facilities at agreed times during each programme

We are also considering offering a day-time offer for Queen’s College students.

Price

The estimate for the price is:

£1250-£1500 per week (Saturday to Saturday) on a full board basis, including all activities & pastoral care

£350-£400 per 5-day course (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm), including activities & lunch

We will confirm the prices, once we have completed the consultation and know the number of students who wish to take part.

Please note the following factors will inform our pricing:

  • For those staying for more than one week, or with siblings who wish to attend we envisage being able to offer a discount
  • We may open up the programme to our day students to allow them to participate alongside their peers (this would likely be in their year-group bubbles and following the latest Covid guidelines and in line with our COVID-Safe Charter)
