The Year 12 McKinsey Leadership Academy

When:  17th-18th July 2014
Where: Wellington College, Berkshire

This programme is delivered by McKinsey staff and Future Foundations at one of the country’s leading independent schools – Wellington College. It will be a real opportunity to develop your leadership skills, meet like-minded young leaders from across the country and to be mentored by McKinsey staff and Future Foundations coaches.

Why you should apply for the Academy

  • Learn about leadership. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have a new toolkit of approaches and an action plan to help you be more effective as a leader.
  • Build career skills. We’ll give you practical advice to help you make the most of future career opportunities. We’ll also highlight experiences to seek out now and at university that could open doors in the future.
  • Be part of a wider network. You’ll meet high performing students from other colleges and so starting to build your own personal network. In summer 2015 we’ll invite you back to catch up and share progress.

You’ll also have the chance to enter a competition for a McKinsey leadership award. Over the next few years, we will stay in touch to update you on events and opportunities.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for bright, motivated students with the potential to be future leaders. You need not have held ‘formal’ roles such as prefect or sports captain. We believe leadership is about having the drive and intellectual curiosity to tackle tough challenges, plus the ability to help others do their best.

You must be a Year 12 student in a UK or Irish school or college studying for at least 3 A levels (or equivalent) and capable of applying to a selective university. It doesn’t matter what subjects you are taking or what career you have in mind.

We’re interested in students who can demonstrate:

  • An excellent track record of academic and other achievements
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Personal initiative
  • Teamwork
  • Creativity
  • Impact
