What is the aim of the programme?
Our aim is to inspire young people about future opportunities within the insurance industry and improve understanding of the industry and job opportunities it presents.
To do this we are offering a programme with training and support for young people interested in finding out more about insurance who are currently attending schools local to Tesco Underwriting.
Participating students will then have the opportunity to apply for apprenticeships at Tesco Underwriting starting in September 2015.
What is the programme structure?
The programme consists of two events at Tesco Underwriting’ offices (Quorum Business Park, Longbenton) and two online challenges. Following the programme you will be invited to apply for apprenticeships with Tesco Underwriting which will commence in September 2015.
To apply for a place on this programme simply complete the online form below. We will then contact you to let you know if you have a place. Please note, we are running a rolling recruitment for this programme and will close recruitment on 17th June or earlier if we have reached capacity. We do therefore encourage interested students to apply online as soon as possible to avoid missing out on this opportunity.
- Apply online: Please use the below form to apply as soon as possible, we will close recruitment on 17th June
- Launchpad: a one day training event on 20th June
- Challenge 1: Submit your CV for feedback from Tesco Underwriting business volunteers
- Challenge 2: An independent challenge (you will decide your challenge on the 20th June with our support) to be completed in your own time by 20th July
- Graduation – An evening event to reflect on the programme and your achievements taking place at Tesco Underwriting on 20th July
What will happen at the Launchpad event?
If you are selected for the Invest In Your Future programme following applying using the below form, you will be invited to attend an inspirational one-day programme delivered by Future Foundations and supported by volunteers from Tesco Underwriting and Kaplan at Tesco Underwriting’s offices in Longbenton.
The day will include presentation skills training, talks about different opportunities in insurance, interview skills training with a mock interview with business volunteers, a work based challenge with feedback and coaching on setting personal development goals.
Who should apply?
We are inviting ambitious current Year 13 students from schools local to Tesco Underwriting (Longbenton, Newcastle) to apply for this programme.
You do not need to know about insurance but have a potential interest in pursuing a career in the insurance industry. There is no expectation you will apply for an apprenticeship with Tesco Underwriting, in fact we are keen for you to find out if it’s an area of interest for you or not so you can make an informed application. Either way the programme has been designed to give you a platform for success in any industry you choose to pursue.
You need to be ambitious and willing to fully participate in the programme and available to attend both events.
Every applicant will receive information and guidance about future opportunities in finance. Selected students will be invited to join the Invest in Your Future programme. Good luck with your application!

The programme has been developed by a partnership of the following organisations:
