Future Foundations are excited to announce that, on Monday 18th August, Victoria MacCallum, Head of Communications at the Cabinet Office, will be speaking to the students on our Global Social Leaders programme about “Communicating with Impact”.

Victoria’s role as Head of Communications involves running a 35-strong team comprising press office, campaigns and speech writing, as well as looking after Ministers such as Francis Maude and high profile individuals including the Cabinet Secretary Sir Jeremy Haywood.

Prior to joining the Cabinet Office, Victoria worked in the strategy and campaigns team at 10 Downing Street, which involved developing and managing strategic campaigns on a range of priorities such as international aid and dementia.

Before that, Victoria was Chief Press Officer in the Foreign Office, which involved being deployed to Syria, Libya and Egypt to support the embassies there during the Arab Spring.

Leadership to me means being brave, taking touch decisions, going with your gut instinct and believing in yourself.

Victoria MacCullum

As well as her knowledge of communications, Victoria’s current role running a team of 35 means she also has lots of experience in leadership, and is looking forward to being able to pass on some tips and advice to our young leaders.

Victoria is particularly looking forward to her talk because she gets inspired by the energy, creativity and ideas young people have – so is hoping to be able to take away some of their buzz and their brilliance!
