I’ve just finished my A levels. Most of my friends have left London, gone to university or are trying to figure out what to do with the rest of their lives. I however have swapped my trainers for boots, my phone for a laptop and my free time for a Digital Marketing apprenticeship. If you had asked me even just a month ago what I would be doing with my future, I could not have guaranteed you an answer. However, if you ask me now if I’m excited about what the future holds for me, I can guarantee you that I definitely am.

I am new here at Future Foundations, emerging straight out of the education system and have been thrown into the world of work. I’m sitting at an unfamiliar desk that i’m sure will become a second home to me very soon. Having recently left sixth form where I studied English, Classics, Drama and Music Technology – I realise that they’re subjects that didn’t fully provide me the ‘savvy’ business skills other people in a business like this might have  (I did economics GCSE but that was a long, LONG time ago).

I’m looking forward to help grow this company through digital platforms. Future foundations want young people to get out of their comfort zones and aspire to be greater; though I have only been here for a week I am already feeling the effects of what this company is trying to promote. I’ve read books that didn’t have a crazy illustrated cover and actually enjoyed them, I’ve met new people been to new places and learnt about software that I didn’t even know existed. This isn’t school where I can memorize a text book and hope to remember what I’ve learnt in an exam, this is real life and you have to be skilled and adaptable. I guess this puts me in a position where i’m anticipating the year to come as there so much I realize I don’t know and i’m looking forward to narrowing that list!
