Our programmes with schools and young people are growing in the UK

We are excited to be looking for a full time Senior Programme Manager for one of our growing programmes working with schools and young people in the UK at both primary and secondary levels.  

In 2022 we will be expanding on delivery by running a number of pilot initiatives to explore widening engagement and participation which is very exciting.

The Dirt Is Good Schools Programme has been created to empower young people to take action on the environmental and social issues that they care about.  The programmes is based on research by Global Action Plan that found a misperception gap in young people; believing that others do not care about social and environmental issues when they actually do, coined as the Values Perception Gap.

The overall aim of the programme is to narrow the Values perception Gap in young people and to normalise acting on social and environmental issues that they care about.

Key information:

  • Location: Future Foundations, Devas Club, 2a Stormont Road, London SW11 5EN (Hybrid working)
  • Hours: Full time – Five days a week (35 hours a week).
  • Remuneration: £36,000 per annum
  • Annual leave: Starting at 28 days annual leave, plus 8 days Bank Holidays.  Plus a day off for your birthday.
  • Start Date: Ideally, we would like the role to commence as soon as possible. The successful candidate would need to have completed an Enhanced DBS and have provided references, including from their previous employer.


The core responsibilities of your role will include end to end oversight of the programme including oversight of all programme deliverables, targets and events.

These programmes have ambitious targets relating to school and young people engagement and is ideal for someone who thrives on programme development and a fast-paced environment.

You will need to be someone who has experience in and enjoys managing multiple elements of a programme, including designing and launching pilot initiatives alongside the main programme.  


  • Ensuring accurate measurement of impact and meeting the programme targets
  • A very high standard of client liaison
  • Excellent team management for the effective running of all elements of the programme; School Engagement Manager and Pilot Programme Manager
  • Excellent budget management for the programme
  • Excellent teacher/school and participant satisfaction  
  • Repeat of the contract for the following year


Programme Management

  • To oversee the overall management of the programme at the top level, including the programme budget, meeting of targets and reporting to the Programmes Director
  • To oversee the planning, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of the programme
  • To create and manage a Programme Operational Plan, with clear review and learning built into the plan
  • To oversee and support others in the team to manage their own areas of the programme plan; this includes the School Engagement Manager and Pilot Programme Manager 
  • To ensuring all FF policies and procedures are being followed to ensure safe and high-quality programme design and delivery, such as creation of Risk Assessments 
  • To ensure data safety on the programme in-line with both Future Foundations and the clients expectations and policies
  • To oversee use of the CRM system set up by the client, and any additional systems used by Future Foundations to ensure good document and data management

Client Liaison

  • Communication with the client, which will include submitting regular reports or presentations to client
  • To ensure excellent client liaison and that the programme meets targets
  • To keeping the client up to date on all programme activities
  • To lead on discussion of any requested changes in programme scope or changes to planned activities as required
  • To lead on liaison with the client in regards to the CRM system development and management

School Engagement

  • To support on planning and implementing recruitment and campaigns
  • To support with tracking of progress and ensuring issues are being flagged where contingency plans may be required
  • To ensure that plans are on track to meet targets set by the client

Arranging staff for programme delivery

  • To identify the most appropriate delivery staff for events, and various elements which may require specialist support
  • To identity the most appropriate and cost effective additional staff for creation of production elements
  • To ensure staff are fully briefed and able to complete the delivery to expectations of the client
  • To ensure that all staff are appropriately onboarded and all necessary checks are completed

Developing and implementing best practice in programme planning and delivery

  • To Identify areas for operational and programmatic improvement then developing, piloting and implementing improvements across the programme
  • To ensure the quality of programme deliver
  • To ensure feedback is collated regularly which should be acted on swiftly  
  • Ensuring best practice is followed in regards to Health and Safety and Safeguarding

Staff Line Management

  • To Line manage appropriate staff members 
  • To ensure that your line managers are managing their workload each week, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet programme goals 
  • To oversee and support growth and development in your team
  • To complete formal HR procedures as part of line management, such as managing probation for new staff


  • Participate in various project work as and when required. You may be asked to support other programmes during busy periods, or to feed into strategy plans across projects



  • Degree or equivalent
  • PRINCE2 or similar project management qualification (or equivalent experience)


  • At least 5 years of programme management experience including budget oversight and risk management
  • Strong operational and logistical experience 
  • Experience in leading and developing a small team to deliver high quality, large scale, programmes with ambitious targets
  • Experience of working with and managing a range of stakeholders such as corporate clients, schools, and third sector delivery partners
  • Experience of tracking performance against KPIs and reporting on progress both internally and to external stakeholders/ clients
  • Experience of programme development including the piloting of new programme aspects or approaches
  • Experience working in the youth or education sector
  • A proven background of successful school engagement
  • Experience of managing a team which includes permanent staff as well as specialist consultants
  • Experience of curriculum design and content creation
  • Experience in the use of CRM systems
  • Experience using WordPress and other website software
  • Experience of using MailChimp or similar systems
  • Experience of using Smartsheets or similar project management tools

Step 2 — First Interview

First round interviews will be held online (using either Teams or Zoom) from during the week of the 14th February and week of the 21st February.  Interviews are running before applications close to work around other commitments.  Ahead of interviews we will ask you to prepare a task which we will share with you ahead of the interview and may also include a timed task after the interview.

Step 3 — Second Interview

2nd Round Interviews will be held at our office in Clapham Junction (depending on latest Covid-19 guidelines), the week of the 28th  February. 2-3 applicants are expected to progress to this stage.
