The FF Festival Awards 2013

On Saturday 18th January 2014 we launched the first ever annual FF Awards Festival (FF Festival 2013), to mark the beginning of the 10th year of Future Foundations. Our annual awards festival aims to bring together our students, staff, funders, alumni and partners, to recognise and celebrate our collective achievements and contribution to society during the year, as well as creating an opportunity for young people to share their own life changing experiences.

The FF Festival 2013 also introduced the members of the Youth Advisory Board for 2014.

The 2013 awards were held at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, and were attended by 300 staff, alumni, students, parents and partners from all around the country.

As part of the festival there were numerous awards which were kindly sponsored by businesses and organisations with a passion for social and academic learning, including Ape Media, Boardex, Aeronexus and Rate my Apprenticeship.

Awards were voted for via our FF Festival website, and included the following categories:

FF NATIONAL CITIZEN SERVICE CHAMPION TEAM:

Future Foundations delivered the National Citizen Service in three regions during summer 2013 and one in autumn. We invited the teams that were selected at their Graduation to present at a regional competition held in the auditorium prior to the main festival event programme.  This was a chance to celebrate what other incredible teams have done to make a change in their communities from across the country.

PARTNER AWARDS:

Future Foundations could not deliver the scale and scope of our programmes without the incredible partners we work with.  The awards went to the partner organisations who have helped Future Foundations to make a significant impact on young people’s lives, worked closely in partnership on one or more programmes and have shared our passion for helping every young person reach their potential.

LEGACY CAREERS PROJECT CHAMPION TEAM:

The team that won the Legacy Careers Project final were invited to present their presentation during the main programme.

UK SOCIAL LEADER HERO OF THE YEAR:

We asked people to nominate those they felt had continued to lead social action in their community since graduating from a Future Foundations programme in the UK.

GLOBAL SOCIAL LEADER OF THE YEAR:

Future Foundations and the Wellington Leadership Institute are committed to supporting and celebrating young people who are working on innovative Social Action projects across the globe.  Graduates of the Global Social Leaders programme were eligible for this award.

FF SPIRIT AWARDS:

We awarded the FF Spirit Awards for staff or students who have lived the FF Spirit. The two FF Spirit Awards were for:

Passion for Learning and Life
Contribution, collaboration and creativity, sponsored by Ape Media

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:

Our individual awards recognise individuals who have lived the FF themes of taking personal responsibility, being yourself, knowing yourself, finding your talents, and serving others.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

STUDENT OF THE YEAR

NETWORK (STAFF) MEMBER OF THE YEAR

Winners of the FF Awards 2013:

It was a fantastic afternoon, featuring presentations and performances from students and staff. Everyone came away feeling inspired, and it was a brilliant reminder of the impact our programmes can have on the lives of young people.
