Young National Citizen Service participants raise money for Bassetlaw Food Bank by participating in their local Parkrun

Christmas is quickly approaching us, and we anticipate the luxury that comes with it. However, for some these indulgences do not come so easily.

Our Autumn NCS participants wanted to make sure that low income families would not have to struggle to enjoy their Christmas.

Last Saturday, as part of their social action and quest to make the Christmas period financially easier for low income families, these 16-17 year olds of Chesterfield NCS took to Clumber Park and participated in the weekly Parkrun. To raise money for their donations they decided to partner up with their Bassetlaw Foodbank who help people in difficult situations by providing them with food and toiletries.

The participants ran an impressive 5k and raised a total of £240 which was used to buy resources for the foodbank.

The couple of young people I was able to meet were a delight, their focus on their studies and future was commendable

Thank you all so much for doing the run, raising the money and for the food you bought, the donation made me speechless and will help massively with our stock levels as we approach the Christmas Period
