On Tuesday 12th August, Brian McBride will visit Wellington College to speak to the participants of our Global Social Leaders programme delivered in partnership with the Wellington Leadership Institute and a selection of participants from our Berkshire National Citizen Service programme about leadership and his career journey so far.

Brian is the  Chairman of ASOS PLC, the leading on-line fashion retailer, appointed in October 2012.  Born and raised as one of eight children living in a Glasgow tenement, Brian gained a place to study Politics and Economic History at Glasgow University, before beginning his career with Xerox.  He subsequently worked in Senior Executive/VP roles  at IBM, Crosfield Electronics, Madge Networks, Dell Computers and as Managing Director of T-Mobile (UK).

Brian left Amazon UK in September 2011 having joined the company in January 2006 as Managing Director, and leading it through its high growth period.

Jon Harper, CEO, of Future Foundations says:

‘We are so excited that Brian has accepted our invitation to speak to our students.  We have future leaders from around the world and students participating in our National Citizen Service programme who will gain a lot from hearing about Brian’s story, and what he learned from working towards leading organisations that many of the young people will have used from ASOS to Amazon!  Brian is a true charismatic leader who I have known for many years, and I believe his approach to leadership and to engaging with people will provide the young people with a real insight both into the world of work and to what it takes to be a leader in today’s fast paced online world’.

Following the talk we will share a blog on this website available to all young people and our partners.

Our Berkshire NCS participants are invited to attend this talk.  There is no cost to attend however are limited places.  Further details on how to register will be sent to participants in due course.
