The 2 day programme provides training and coaching to students in:-

  • personal development
  • leadership and enterprise
  • subject-specific tutorials and extension work on the common courses at University
  • financial literacy and goal setting
  • employer talks on career paths, internships and work experience
  • undergraduate/graduate mentoring
  • UCAS/personal statement support
  • mock interview sessions
  • how to make the most out of university and get the edge!

The summer school harnesses the facilities of an independent school and a shared expertise from a partnership of local Sixth Form Heads and Head Teachers so together, a local peer network of excellence and communication is developed.

The programme prepares each student for making choices most suitable to them on entering university and to make the most out of their university years so they are best prepared for entering the working world. The working world is rapidly changing and being a graduate is, in many employment situations, no longer sufficient. Expanding one's CV and life experience through internships, leadership roles and extra curricular interests, alongside 'academic stretch' is advised on by our wide range of professionals and tutors.

Our tutors are from a wide range of professions who share a passion for enabling young people to make the most out of third-level education and all it's opportunities.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is delighted to be working with Future Foundations on their University Edge programme for the Summer of 2008. As one of the largest graduate employers in the United Kingdom, it is essential for us to make connections with organisations that support Higher Education, and Future Foundations is a great partner for us for so many reasons. Our relationship with them forms an invaluable part of our ongoing efforts within the local schools and colleges across the country.

Enterprise employees spend a significant amount of time in our local schools - they love the opportunity of spending time with the students, and we find that it fits very nicely in with our corporate value of 'We strengthen our communities, one neighbourhood at a time.' Building a pipeline of talented students who are interested in furthering their education is paramount to the long-term success of our business.

Our goal in participating with Future Foundations is to further encourage young people to understand the opportunities that going to university can bring - and we hope to make a difference.
