Fartown GCSE Step up Day - Great Success Print E-mail

On Monday 19th October, Future Foundations (FF) delivered a GCSE Step Up Day for 60 Year 11 students from Fartown High School (FHS).  This event was held at the National Children’s Centre in Huddersfield, Leeds.  This is the second time that FF has worked with FHS.

The day started with an Opening Plenary led by the Course Director, Sarah Lloyd Hughes who managed to get the students to give a Lion’s roar before 10am!  Three carousel workshops were delivered including, Time of Your Life, Knowing Yourself and Hazel’s ‘Enterprise Skills Workshop’, involving the pupils creating their own playground and presenting the benefits of their playground for their chosen target market!   The day ended with a wonderful audio-visual round up of the day’s learning, and the final moment was brought together with silence and a singular candle flame which focused the students on one of the key messages of the day, that they need to take responsibility over their actions.

Many thanks to Fartown High School for inviting us to work with their students again, to the National Children’s Centre for being the host and to the FF Team for all their hard work.
