Life Skill Sessions and Enrichment

Preparing young people for success in work and life. Inspired by research carried out by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts our skills workshops develop in young people the skills and attitudes required to prepare for success in their future. They can be delivered within our other programmes or delivered separeately as part of a PSHE session, enrichment day or other development programme.

Workshop Aims:

Our workshops are designed to meet specific aims of helping to develop in young people the skills and attitudes required to prepare for success in their studies, careers and life. We offer a range of workshops which develop the following skills:

1. Creativity and Enterprise
  • Develop creative problem solving
  • Explore the importance of curiosity
  • Challenge student to be open to new ways of doing things
  • Practice using the imagination

2. Self Confidence
  • Help students to feel confident in themselves
  • Identify and recognise strengths
  • Practice persuading others
  • Cope well with set-backs

Workshop options:

  • Knowing Yourself
3. Risk Taking
  • Challenges students to take steps outside of their ‘comfort zone’
  • Encourages students to try new things
  • Helps students consider the options before making a decision
  • Encourages students to try something out even if there is a chance of failing
4. Energy and Motivation:
  • Develops self-motivation
  • Shows students the benefits of setting and achieving goals
  • Challenges students to get absorbed in a task or activity
5. Leadership
  • Challenges students to take the lead and learn when to allow others to lead
  • Helps students to recognise the responsibilities of leadership
  • Shows students how to gain support for ideas from others
  • Helps students learn how to motivate and encourage others
  • Develops students ability to plans for leading activities inside or outside school
  • Develops the ability to listen to others

Our programme of skills workshops are inspired by the research carried out by NESTA into Future World of Work skills.  FF was selected by NESTA, to develop its 'Third Sector Edge' programme to help create a new model of work related learning.  We have since adapted and developed our range of workshops and activities to further develop these activities. 

Who is it for?

  • Secondary school students - we can provide tailored workshops for each year group
  • University students - we have additional workshops focused on preparing university students for graduation and the world of work, contact us for further information on our Graduate Edge programme
